SOFTWARE TESTER - TEMPORARY CONTRACT

PLYMOUTH - INITIAL 6 MONTH CONTRACT

REMUNERATION DEPENDING ON EXPERIENCE

We are looking for an experienced Software Tester to work with our friendly, innovative and growing Development Team, currently around 30 people, based at our offices near Plymouth.

About us

GOSS was founded in 1999, and today comprises 60+ people. We are an award-winning, growing software business - the largest in the South-West - based on the edge of Dartmoor, and with our nearest beach just 25 minutes away.  Our clients range from the public sector (Police Forces, Government, Met Office) to private sector brands such as Brittany Ferries, Caledonian MacBrayne and Virgin Trains. Every week more than 3 million people see and experience our work (we know, we've checked the logs)!

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • As a software tester, you are involved in the quality assurance stage of software development and deployment. You'll conduct automated and manual tests to ensure the software created by developers is fit for purpose. Software testing involves the analysis of software, and systems, to avert risk and prevent software issues.
  • You will work with our Software Developers and Project Managers to test and report issues across a wide range of client project work and product development project work.
  • Your role will vary depending on project requirements. You may join a project at the initial implementation stages to assess potential risks, or be brought on to a project midway through, when testing becomes a key requirement. This may be on Waterfall projects, testing to specifications or on Agile projects, testing to user stories.
  • You'll contribute towards our goal of continually improving our development processes and delivering outstanding software and solutions to our clients.
  • Report on test findings, identifying recurring issues.
  • Depending on experience, you may advise the teams on best testing practice.

WHO YOU ARE

  • You are a highly skilled and experienced software tester, ideally experienced in testing web based solutions.
  • You have experience of both manual testing and automated software testing (e.g. using JMeter or Selenium), gained over several years.
  • You have experience of working in both a Waterfall and an Agile Software development environment.
  • Any experience of using JIRA for issue tracking would be useful.
  • You have a close attention to detail.
  • You are able to work to tight deadlines.
