Who we are

United Response is a leading national charity providing support to young people and adults with learning disabilities and mental health needs.  We believe in championing the right of disabled people to live, work, socialise and participate in the community, free of discrimination and unnecessary boundaries.

Making it happen- Your Role

This is a responsible Role which is really varied, sometimes challenging and often fun. The job is all about giving people encouragement, guidance and support so they can live as independently as possible, make their own choices and do the things they enjoy.

On a daily basis, you may be involved in supporting people with the following activities:

  • Cooking
  • Cleaning
  • Washing
  • Managing Finances
  • Shopping
  • Going on holiday/ Days out
  • Travelling to and from work

Any many more!

There will also be an element of administration (on average 1.5 days per week)

This is an exciting opportunity for a keen, enthusiastic person who is ready to take on more responsibility, or who already has experience of managing a team, to support and lead a large team of support workers (approx. 15). You will support and report directly to the Service Manager.

You will be supporting 5 people, both male and female, who live in a shared supported living setting, who have complex needs including moving and handling, support with eating and drinking, dressing and bathing and all aspects of life skills.

You will need to be self-motivated and able to motivate others.

You will be responsible for completing complex rotas, updating support plans, liaising with other professionals and families and supervising your staff team.

About you

We welcome people from all walks of life to apply for a job with us. We don't ask for specific qualifications or experience, just that you have the compassion and integrity to treat people with dignity and respect. You will be a car driver with a full driving licence.
