Garment Technologist - Barcelona
The Company Our client is currently one of the leading men's formal and casual apparel for both own label and branded. They now have an opportunity for a Garment Technologist to join their team in their Barcelona Office. The main purpose of the role is to plan and carry out garment/fabric Technical and Quality processes to ensure all product types meet the very high level standard required for customers quality, make up, fit, measurements and hanger/packing appearance. EU Garment Technologist - The Role: Interface with in In Country Technical teams, direct manufacturing locations EU offices and customers to develop good working relationships to ensure customer needs are met. Decision making at all levels and submitting reports to Senior Management. Attend regular meetings with sales, op's teams, design and customers to understand development needs and effectively put into work any new samples required. Complete sample request sheet and tracking report to monitor progress. Travel may be required for these meetings. Create clear, concise workbooks & technical specs with as many visual aids as possible and distribute to relevant people overseas. Ensure all technical information is kept up to date & necessary alterations are made following sample reviews internally or by customers. Monitor samples through the making process using the critical path to ensure that they: meet deadline dates, are to a high quality standard and meet all required specifications. Liaise with Off Shore QC to ensure samples are checked according to schedule. Attend a handover meeting with Design, Sales and Merchandisers. Discuss all aspects of the new order to take full responsibility for all Technical (including fabric) related process. Manage all aspects of the fit and sealing process with factories to ensure amendments required work within a production environment achieving the required standards with a "right 1st time approach in line with critical path dates. Carry out pre-productions and block review meetings with customers as required and take a leading role. Incorporate all the information agreed accurately onto work books so everyone is aware of requirements. Direct liaison with In Country Technical, QC and or Merchandisers discussing any information/issues that require urgent attention or decision making. Keep Line Manager well informed developing issues before they escalate. Arrange visits to the factories strategically to support technical requirements and ensure quality standards are met with minimum risk to the business. Visit warehouses/customers when necessary or possible to assess stock on notification of failure. Plan corrective action with Technical QC & reprocessing if required. Inform Line Manager of any issues and corrective action plans. Arrange travel in accordance to business needs within Europe and Asia. Be proactive in suggesting to the Line Manager of travel requirements to support the factories production process recognising when this will be required before problems occur. Be aware of each customer testing requirements and action accordingly. Comply with stated policies and procedures relating to Health & Safety at all times and take responsibility for personal health and safety at work. Be prepared to undertake any other duties deemed reasonable for the proper performance of the role. EU Garment Technologist - The Candidate: Previous technical and manufacturing experience is essential. Understanding of patterns and pattern construction. Confident, professional, customer focused and results driven Must have excellent attention to detail and strong time management skills Able to use Excel and Microsoft Office Strong communication skills. Ability to travel. EU Garment Technologist - The Package: Competitive salary package dependent on experience. Temporary accommodation given. 12 months of Spanish lessons provided.
